Post Joss and Dollhouse
This link was just sent to me and I figured if anyone hadn't read, I'd spread the love.

An interview with Joss from the L.A. Times about his new show with Eliza Dushku :cheese:

Dollhouse

Cheers for sharing that! I also can't wait to see it. It looks really promising.

Yo:

Would I get tared if I say my overall reaction to this new show was "meh?"

It seems to me that Joss keeps trying to get away from the story he's supposed to tell (the Buffyverse).

Still Here,

Patrick

Tarred? Nah. Maybe boiled in oil, but no tar.

Look up the trailer on youtube...oh my, I'm already hooked. LOL. Plus, there's a brief Buffy and Faith fight scene from Grad Day part 2.

Not from this end, but maybe a wagging finger of shame...I can appreciate the urge to carry on the buffyverse (uhm why else are any of us here?), but if we take a look at the thread marked Drew Goddard, it's kinda obvious Joss isn't on his game right now.

I say let's see what he does. I haven't seen anything on way of reviews, but something new and fresh should be fun...

Come on live little...embrace all aspects of Joss

Okay, I'm not a member of the "I buried my soul in Sunnydale." crowd. I don't think we need to chain Joss to Sunnydale.

But my reaction to the idea of "Dollhouse" ? Very close to a "meh..." myself.

Not because I don't think it'll work. In today's 'short attention span' culture (in the US anyway) this'll probably do a lot better than anything else he's done for Fox.

It just isn't the kind of show I'm interested in. It doesn't have that mythic story potential that "Buffy", "Angel", and even "Firefly" displayed. It's a modern version of "GE Playhouse", and all those other shows from the 50's where each episode was a stand-alone story. Which is great for syndication but not so much for building a fanbase around a specific character.

And where's the unique subversive twist to it? This is Alias+ amnesia.

And, other than as Faith, I haven't seen Eliza Dushku play a character that kept me wanting to watch.
